Apple's 3D Touch technology on the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus relies on capacitive sensors in the backlight of the display to measure different levels of pressure. Would the use of screen protectors on the new iPhones affect its performance?
According to Apple SVP Phil Schiller, it will not pose any issue as long as the screen overlays follow the company's guidelines. The three guidelines recommend that the screen overlay must not exceed 0.3mm in thickness, introduce air gaps between the touchscreen and overlay, and be electrically conductive.
Although 9to5Mac reports that majority of the screen protectors sold today comply with these guidelines, we recommend that you purchase the approved screen protectors from Apple Online Store.
