Razer's range of limited-edition Pokemon gaming accessories looks pika-perfect

Ideally, I'd have liked to open this article with a witty Pokemon-related pun, but it's only Thursday and not Friday. So, if you were expecting one, I'm sorry to disappoint (no I'm not).

However, opening joke or not, I'm still a fan of Game Freak's critter-catching franchise, and that's not going to change any time soon. Which is to say that Razer's newly-launched line of Pokemon-inspired gaming gear definitely piques my interest.

The limited-edition range of accessories, which goes on sale starting today, Oct 15 includes adorably-designed Pikachu reskins of four of their best-selling products: the Ornata keyboard, DeathAdder Essential mouse, Goliathus mousepad and Hammerhead wireless earbuds. Of course, they didn't just dunk everything in yellow (and brown) paint and call it a day - so let's see what else is different.

Starting off with the Ornata gaming keyboard, the reskinned version features not only the mascot's familiar yellow colouration as a base, but the Escape key, arrow keys and wrist rest also come adorned with franchise-related motifs. Personally, I find the bolt-tail arrow keys the neatest bit about the reskin, although the Pikachu imprints on the palm rest do come a close second.

Speaking of Pikachu tails, the DeathAdder Essential from this range also features a Pika-tail (yes, this is a word now) motif in place of the regular Razer triple-head snake logo. Like the Ornata (and the rest of the range, actually), it sports a yellow-black colour code, although the side buttons and mouse wheel are both coloured red like the electric sacs on Pikachu's cheeks.

Next up is the Goliathus mousepad, and honestly, there isn't much to say about this one. It speaks for itself. Pika-chuuu.

Last but not least, we have the reskinned Hammerhead wireless earbuds, which I think are actually the most interesting part of the quartet. Not only do they come encased in a nifty Pokeball charging box, but you'll also get to hear Pikachu's trademark battlecry whenever you flip it open.

Anyway, just a gentle reminder that all of these are already available for sale at authorised retailers as well as the Razer online store in the following countries: Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia. Accordingly, here are our local prices:

  • Razer|Pokémon  Hammerhead True Wireless Pikachu Limited Edition: SGD219.90
  • Razer|Pokémon – Ornata Pikachu Limited Edition: SGD149.90
  • Razer|Pokémon – DeathAdder Essential & Goliathus Pikachu Limited Edition Bundle: SGD79.90
