Razer's new Blade 16 and 18 gaming notebooks are taller and faster than ever
16:10 displays have officially entered the mainstream for gaming laptops. Alongside brands like Acer, Alienware, and more, Razer has overhauled its svelte Blade laptops with the new Blade 16 and Blade 18, featuring taller displays than before.
The Razer Blade 16 and 18 come equipped with the latest 13th Gen Intel Core i9 HX chips, NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 40 series GPUs, and support for up to DDR5 5,600MHz memory.
The Blade 16 boasts a machined aluminium chassis, but the main highlight is really the option for a Mini LED screen that can toggle between 4K and 1080p resolutions. This allows it to support either a 120Hz refresh rate at 4K, or 240Hz at FHD, providing some neat versatility for both creators and gamers.
The Mini LED display tops out at 1,000 nits, according to Razer, which is plenty bright. Alternatively, you can opt for one of the regular IPS panels that also support a crisp 2,560 x 1,600-pixel resolution and 240Hz refresh rate.
The Blade 18 is another powerful beast of a laptop. It has a QHD+ 240Hz display and is designed as a desktop replacement with a 5MP camera, THX spatial audio 6-way speaker array, and upgradeable components.
To keep it cool, it relies on an extra-large vapour chamber paired with three fans for maximum thermal efficiency.
There are a plethora of ports as well, so you'll never be left wanting for more. The selection includes one UHS-II SD card reader, one USB-C port, three USB-A ports, one HDMI 2.1 connector, one Thunderbolt 4 port, one 2.5Gb Ethernet port, and a 3.5mm combo audio jack.
Both laptops are expected to be available in the first quarter of 2023. The Blade 16 starts at US$2,699, while the Blade 18 starts at US$2,899.
