Note: This article was first published on 16 October 2022.
With RazerCon 2022 unfolding as we speak, there's quite a lot of ground that we need to cover with regard to the lifestyle giant's new products. From handheld gaming devices to Lamborghini-themed gaming chairs, among other things, Razer certainly isn't holding back on releases this year, so here's a quick piece to get you caught up on the latest showcases.
1. Razer Edge
Touted by Razer as the "Ultimate 5G Handheld Gaming Device", the brand-new Razer Edge is scheduled for release in January 2023 and comes in Wi-Fi and Verizon 5G variants. It sports a 6.8-inch AMOLED display with a 144 Hz refresh rate and 2400 x 1080 resolution, alongside a 3GHz octa-core Kryo CPU and an Adreno GPU for maximum gaming performance.
The Edge also offers in-built compatibilities for native Android games, cloud streaming services like NVIDIA GeForce NOW, and even remote play options like the Steam Link. According to the press release, the device will reportedly be available exclusively in the US for the time being, and a set of the Razer Edge Wi-Fi variant will set you back US$399.99. A price for the Verizon variant has yet to be announced.
2. Razer Kraken Kitty V2 Pro and Razer Blue Screen
How do you make something cuter? You slap cat ears onto it, of course. And then you do it again, like what Razer's doing with the fan-favourite Kraken Kitty V2 Pro headset. Although the name explicitly alludes to kitty-cat ears, this Razer Chroma RGB wired headset actually comes with interchangeable bear and bunny ears too. They're designed to be easy to swap out and re-attach, and can even react to real-time stimuli with countless different lighting effects to choose from. Last but not least, it also features a detachable Razer HyperClear cardioid microphone, which pairs well with the Razer TriForce Titanium 50mm drivers for high-quality audio delivery and voice capture.
Meanwhile, the Razer Blue Screen is a chroma key panel designed to provide flawless background displays for streamers and content creators. It's woven from premium fibers, is easily collapsible for convenient deployment and storage, and can be extended to a maximum height of 94 inches.
As for pricing and availability, the Razer Kraken Kitty V2 Pro will be available for pre-order in Q4 2022 starting at US$199.99, while the Razer Blue Screen is already available for purchase at US$149.99 a set.
3. Razer Kaira Pro HyperSpeed and Hammerhead HyperSpeed
Following up on the audio train are new additions to the Razer Kaira and Hammerhead product lines. In the case of the former, fans can look forward to the Razer Kaira X, Kaira HyperSpeed, and Kaira Pro HyperSpeed respectively.
The first of those is a wired headset designed specifically to work with the PlayStation 5, while the latter two are wireless, multi-platform headsets offering 30 hours of use per full charge. Like the aforementioned Kraken Kitty, all of the new Kaira headsets feature Razer TriForce Titanium 50mm drivers, alongside a detachable Razer HyperClear environmental noise-cancelling (ENC) microphone.
Meanwhile, the Razer Hammerhead line welcomes the Hammerhead HyperSpeed wireless earbuds, which offer active noise cancellation (ANC) and many shared features with the Kaira HyperSpeed headsets above. Among other things, it sports 2.4GHz gaming-grade wireless (via the included Type-C dongle) and Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity, dual ENC microphones, and 30 hours of battery life.
Regarding price and availability, all three Razer Kaira models - Kaira X, Kaira HyperSpeed, and Kaira HyperSpeed Pro are already available for purchase at US$59.99, US$129.99, and US$199.99 respectively. The Hammerhead HyperSpeed earbuds will be available sometime in November 2022 at a price of US$149.99 per set.
4. Razer Enki Pro Automobili Lamborghini Edition
If you're in the market for a new gaming chair and don't mind waiting a month or two, then this is your stop. Bonus points if you're a fan of Lamborghini too.
The Razer Enki Pro Automobili Lamborghini Edition is exactly what its title implies. Decked out in the signature colours of the super sports car line and outfitted with premium Alcantara material, this snazzy gaming chair is designed to offer "the most weight-balanced seating experience for super sports car enthusiasts". It boasts a dual-density cushioned backrest, magnetic head cushion, a precision recline dial...and a price tag to match all of the above. Buying one of these will apparently set you back a tidy US$1,299, but you'll need to wait till December 2022 to place an order.
5. New Quartz, Mercury, and White Edition colourways
If you're looking to add a splash of colour to your gaming setup, Razer has a bunch of new additions to the Quartz, Mercury, and White Edition lines.
The expanded Quartz line (that's the pink one!) now features the Razer Barracuda and Blackshark V2 X headsets, the Huntsman V2 TKL keyboard, Orochi wireless gaming mouse, and the large-size Strider Hybrid mouse mat. Meanwhile, the Mercury line will welcome the Barracuda, and the White line will see the addition of the Basilisk V3 Pro wireless gaming mouse, the Deathstalker V2 Pro and Deathstalker V2 Pro TKL wireless optical keyboards. 6. Luminor Quaranta Razer Special Edition Watch
Originally announced at last year's RazerCon, the lifestyle giant has finally revealed the fruits of their collaboration with luxury watchmaker Panerai: the Luminor Quaranta Razer Special Edition Watch.
Designed as a nod to both companies' sustainability efforts and to encourage fans to "make time for our ocean", it features Razer's iconic green-and-black colour coding on the watch hands, sandwich dial and strap stitching, alongside subtle engravings of the company's triple-headed snake logo on various areas. Additionally, the watch is also made predominantly of recycled materials such as PET and eSteel, the latter of which is a next-generation metal derived from recycled steel.
Although a price has yet to be announced for the watch, chances are it's probably going to cost you a pretty penny seeing as there will only be 500 of these made. They will be exclusively available at select Panerai boutiques and Panerai.com.
7. Razer Axon Wallpaper PC Application
With Razer's Chroma RGB lighting technology as widely used as it is, the company is now trying to take that immense level of customisability and apply it to PC wallpapers. Simply put, the all-new Razer Axon app offers a range of premium, high-quality wallpapers that react in real-time with Razer Chroma RGB compatible devices, and users are welcome to add their own wallpapers to the playlist as well. This opens up an alternative way for users to utilise the Chroma RGB technology, and to celebrate the launch of the new app, the first 10,000 users to download it and input the code "#RAZERCON2022" will receive a batch of limited-edition wallpapers to start off.
On top of that, if you apply any Razer Axon wallpaper to your monitor and share a picture of your setup on social media (TikTok, Instagram, Facebook or Twitter) alongside the hashtags #RazerAxon and #Razer before 31 Oct, 11:59 pm PST, you'll also stand a chance to win a special Chroma RGB accessories bundle.
