Razer has updated its rodent family with the Abyssus V2, an updated version of the original ambidextrous Abyssus. Most Razer mice aren’t exactly budget offerings, and the Abyssus has always been one of the few that appeal to gamers just looking for the basic essentials.

The Abyssus V2 retains the ambidextrous design of its predecessor, and is suitable for a range of grip styles including palm, claw, and fingertip grips. Contours at the sides – which when combined with the rubber side grips – also look like they make gripping the mouse a lot more comfortable.

With that said, this is through and through a Razer mouse. The left- and right-click buttons have a raised ridge at the edges, a design feature also found on other Razer mice like the Razer Mamba. What’s more, the front grill is even evocative of what you see on the Naga Hex.

This is a small mouse, measuring only 117 x 64 x 38mm and weighing just 80g.

It uses what Razer says is a “true” 5,000DPI optical sensor, but the company did not otherwise specify the exact sensor that it used.

Lighting options are also limited, given that this is intended to be an entry-level mouse of sorts. Razer has utilized three-color (green, teal, and blue) lighting instead of RGB, with the illumination confined to the scroll wheel and palm rest logo.

Finally, there are just four buttons on the Abyssus V2, including a DPI switcher that allows you to toggle between five DPI steps.

The Abyssus V2 is selling for S$79.90, which is actually quite a bit more than the entry-level mice from most brands. But be that as it may, the fact remains that this is the cheapest Razer mouse you can buy.
