Razer updated its 15-inch Blade gaming notebook earlier this year with Intel’s new 9th generation processors and faster display options.

Now, it will be the first notebook in the world to feature optical keyboard switches.

Optical keyboard switches use light for actuation instead of a mechanical connection. Because there are no parts in contact with each other, there’s no need to introduce a debounce delay. The result is crisper and faster actuation.

Also, because an optical keyboard switch has fewer moving parts, reliability should be better and performance should remain more consistent across the switch’s lifespan since there are no metal contacts to wear out.

Read our earlier reviews here and here to find out more about optical keyboard switches and their advantages.

At any rate, optical keyboard switches will now be available on the higher-end Razer Blade 15 Advanced, but curiously, only on a single SKU.

This particular SKU with optical keyboard switches will have the following specifications and it’s priced at US$2,649 (~S$3,661).

  • 15.6-inch Full-HD 240Hz display
  • Intel Core i7-9750H processor
  • 16GB DDR4 2667MHz memory
  • 512GB NVMe SSD
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX-2070 Max-Q 8GB GDDR6

No word yet on local availability pricing and pricing, but we will update this news once we know more.
