Qualcomm's Snapdragon 775 leak reveals new mid-range phone chipset in the works

XDA Developers might have come across the 2021 successor to the Snapdragon 765 chipset.

According to the website, the Qualcomm leak originated from a Telegram channel called XiaomiUI. (not an official channel by Xiaomi, MIUI, Qualcomm). XDA Developers ran the leak against their own sources, which verified the documents shown, even though it's currently out-of-date. In the documents, the new mid-range chipset went by SM7350.

Based on the leak, the Snapdragon 775 / SM7350 would be manufactured using a 5nm process, which was the same manufacturing process that gave us the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 flagship-grade processor for 2021 phones. The leaked chipset will also pack other forward-looking features, like dual 5G support, both sub-6 and mmWave 5G support, 802.11ax Wi-Fi compatibility, and many more.

The leaked documents also included a comparison between the unreleased chipset and the Snapdragon 765G - the 7nm equivalent that was already in mid-range phones of 2020 like the Vivo X50 Pro (review here). This comparison led XDA Developers to believe that the leaked chipset is a successor to the SD765G, seeing how the Snapdragon 768G that launched last year was akin to an overclocked SD765G.
