Qualcomm unveils Snapdragon 730 and 665 for high-end and midrange devices

Qualcomm expanded its 7 and 6 series mobile platforms with the latest Snapdragon 730, 730G and 665. 

The Snapdragon 730 is based on an 8nm process node and uses Kyro 470 cores at up to. 2.2GHz with Adreno 618 GPU. It also has the Snapdragon X15 LTE modem which delivers download speeds up to 800Mbps and one of the first to be Wi-Fi 6 ready. 

There is a gaming-focused version, the Snapdragon 730G which has elite gaming features such as an enhanced Adreno 618 GPU for up to 15% faster graphic rendering,  optimisation for a selection of top rated games, Jank Reducer to reduce stutters by up to 90% in games running at 30fps, Anti-Cheating Extensions to keep gamers on the same level playing field, and Wi-Fi latency manager to optimise network settings and configurations for smooth gameplay.

The Snapdragon 665 is built on a 11nm process and uses Kryo 260 cores with Adreno 610 GPU. Its Snapdragon X12 LTE modem offers download speeds of up to 600Mbps and integrated 802.11ac WiFi connectivity. The Snapdragon Spectra 165 ISP can support advanced camera feature such as taking super resolution photos at up to 48MP, hybrid autofocus, optical zoom, triple camera setup (telephoto, wide and ultra-wide). 

Qualcomm expects commercial devices equipped with these new mobile platforms to be available from the middle of this year.
