Qualcomm-branded gaming phones built by ASUS could launch as soon as the end of this year.

According to DigiTimes, industry sources claim that Qualcomm and ASUS will work together to launch Qualcomm-branded gaming phones. ASUS is said to be responsible for designing and developing the hardware while Qualcomm will take the lead for "industry design" and "software integration optimising the Snapdragon 875 platform".

Under the terms of the partnership, there is reportedly a joint purchase of components for ASUS' ROG Phones and Qualcomm's gaming phones. The components are likely to include display panels, memory, camera modules, batteries and cooling solutions. In addition, both companies are expected to make about one million phones a year with about half coming under the Qualcomm brand and the other half under the ROG Phone brand.

ASUS recently launched its third-generation gaming phone in Singapore. Priced at S$1,598, the ROG Phone 3 is equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 865, 12GB RAM, 512GB internal storage space, a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with 144Hz refresh rate and a side-mounted USB-C port.
