There have been multiple reports suggesting a delay in the launch of some iPhone 12 models and Qualcomm is the latest supplier to hint of the potential delay.

Akash Palkhiwala, the Chief Financial Officer in Qualcomm, revealed in an interview with Reuters the Q4 chip revenue forecast is slightly lower than analysts' expectations due to a delayed flagship phone launch.

"We're seeing a partial impact from the delay of a flagship phone launch. And so what we've seen is a slight delay that pushes some of the units out from the September quarter to the December quarter for us," he said.

While Qualcomm did not name the customer, it is likely to be Apple as the iPhone is one of the few devices in the market to have substantial impact on suppliers' revenues if there is a drop in sales or delay in the launch. Broadcom, another major Apple supplier, shared in an earnings conference call last month that there is a "major product cycle delay" which will cause its revenue to dip in Q3 before recovering in Q4.

Tipster @jon_prosser posted a tweet a few hours ago claiming that the iPhone 12 and new iPads will be available in October. The Covid-19 outbreak is cited as the main reason for disrupting the testing and production of the iPhone 12.
