Qualcomm claims Apple copied its source code and gave to Intel
Qualcomm has filed a new lawsuit against Apple claiming that the iPhone maker stole its source code and other trade secrets, and passed the information to Intel.
The source code and confidential information were apparently used to improve the performance of Intel’s “lower quality” chips. In doing so, Apple hoped to eliminate its reliance on Qualcomm.
While Qualcomm has no direct evidence to support its allegations, it makes references to communication exchanges between Apple and Intel engineers. Sources also mention there is evidence in Apple's source code development history and the code used in Intel-based phones.
Qualcomm confirmed in July that Apple will exclusively use Intel modems for the 2018 iPhone models. However, Qualcomm will continue to provide modems for older iPhone models.
