Update your Google Chrome browser now to protect yourself from a serious security vulnerability

If you are reading this on Google Chrome, you'll want to make sure you are running the latest version.

That's because Google has just issues an update that fixes a serious security vulnerability for Google Chrome users on Windows, Mac, and Linux (that's basically every Chrome user).

The update fixes a security vulnerability known as CVE-2022-3075. And Google themselves has said that there are aware that an exploit for this bug currently "exists in the wild."

Google didn't reveal specifics about this bug but reports say it has something to do with "insufficient data validation" in Mojo, which is a collection of runtime libraries used by Chromium. Chromium is the codebase on which Google Chrome is built on.

Google said it's not announcing specifics now because it wants to protect users who haven't updated. It said:

Access to bug details and links may be kept restricted until a majority of users are updated with a fix. We will also retain restrictions if the bug exists in a third party library that other projects similarly depend on, but haven’t yet fixed.

To update Chrome, simply look for the three-dot menu in the top right corner of your Chrome window, select Help, go to About Google Chrome, and click the Update Google Chrome button. We have instructions here.

You want to make sure you have version number 105.0.5195.102.

According to BleepingComputer, this is the sixth Google Chrome zero-day vulnerability reported this year.
