PSA: Disable FaceTime now as bug lets others hear you before you accept it

Several users discovered a major bug in Apple’s FaceTime video-calling app which allows callers to eavesdrop on them even before they accept the incoming audio/video call.

There is a series of steps which you have to take to exploit the FaceTime bug, which several publications have tested and confirmed to be working. Although the steps to exploit the bug are already widespread, we are doing our part by not sharing them here for obvious reasons.

Apple has confirmed that it is aware of the issue and will issue a software update later this week to fix the bug. As an interim measure, Apple has disabled Group FaceTime. You can disable FaceTime on your iPhone or iPad via Settings > FaceTime > Toggle off, and turn off the feature on your Mac.

As Apple prides itself as a company that protects customers' privacy, the FaceTime bug is certainly putting a dent in the company's reputation.
