The premium iPhone model, also known as the iPhone X or iPhone Edition, might not be available for purchase in September.

According to The Investor, Korean parts suppliers claim that they only started shipping the components recently which suggest that the premium iPhone could see retail availability no earlier than November.

“We started our shipments from late August,” an official from a local Apple supplier told The Investor on condition of anonymity on Sept. 4.

The source added that Apple did not confirm the "exact supply volume" as it was still finalizing hardware specs for the premium iPhone model until last week. Even if Apple managed to get some stocks of the premium iPhone model to sell in September, stocks will be "extremely limited".

The Investor's report corroborates with what KGI Securities mentioned last month; only two to four million units of the premium iPhone model might be available for purchase at launch. Considering that the premium iPhone is rumored to have a base price of around US$999, the two-month delay could actually benefit some consumers as there is more time to save money.

Apple is holding a media event on 12 September where it is expected to unveil three new iPhone models, the Apple Watch Series 3 and an upgraded Apple TV model with 4K output. Pre-orders are believed to begin on 15 September with shipments on 22 September for the other two iPhone models.
