Pre-order starts for Oppo Reno3 and Reno3 Pro - available on 10 April

Note 1: This article was originally published on 4 Dec 2019.

Update on 1 Apr 2020: local pricing and availability announced, details below.

Oppo's VP and President of global sales took to the stage at the Qualcomm Snapdragon Summit 2019 to announce two new high-tier Qualcomm powered handsets.

At today's Snapdragon Tech Summit 2019, several Qualcomm partner vendors took to the stage to make strategic announcements. Oppo being a strong proponent of 5G and showing off its first dynamic spectrum sharing (DSS) capable 5G phone just days ago, wasted no time to take to the stage and announced two new handsets with Qualcomm's latest hardware.

Continuing Oppo's successful Reno series and right after it barely launched Reno 2, Oppo's preparing to launch Reno 3 Pro this month (December 2019) with Qualcomm's just-announced Snapdragon 765G mobile platform. While the Snapdragon 765 is an upper mid-tier mobile processor that will primarily focus on delivering 5G and AI to all consumers with its new integrated 5G modem, the Snapdragon 765G edition does the same plus delivering Qualcomm Snapdragon Elite Gaming experience - a marketing term that just means it will deliver higher graphics horsepower to deliver exceptional mobile gaming performance.

What's more, the Reno 3 Pro will also be the company's first dual-mode 5G handset which they shared back in October and they are carrying out what they've promised. Essentially, the Snapdragon 765 and 765G are integrated with a new Snapdragon X52 modem-RF system that supports both standalone (SA) and non-standalone (NSA) network architectures, which is Qualcomm's dual-mode 5G delivery platform.

Alen Wu makes sure everyone keeps a close lookout for their next flagship phone coming soon that will use the Snapdragon 865 mobile platform.

Alen Wu went further to also tease the audience that their true next-gen flagship handset is coming soon in Q1 2020 and will feature Qualcomm's top mobile process - the Snapdragon 865. If rumours are to believed, it should likely be a follow-up to the Find X model. We will be covering this new phone from Oppo, direct from its global launch early next year, so stay tuned for more from us.

Update 1 Apr 2020: Oppo's Reno3 series phones are due to debut in Singapore. Pre-orders for the Oppo Reno3 and Oppo Reno3 Pro are now available on the Oppo Flagship Store at Shopee, up until the official launch on 10 April 2020. There are pre-order bonuses too:

  • Oppo Reno3 (8GB RAM + 128GB ROM) has a pre-order price of S$499 and a pre-order gift: the Oppo Enco Q1 wireless noise cancelling headphones (worth S$179). The Reno3 will be available in two colours, Midnight Black and Sky White.
  • Oppo Reno3 Pro (8GB RAM + 256GB) has a pre-order price of S$749 and a pre-order gift: the Oppo Enco Wireless Buds (worth S$189). The Reno3 Pro will be available in two colours, Auroral Blue and Midnight Black.

The pre-order gifts are only effectively available until 9 April 2020, and they are distributed on a while-stocks-last basis. It's worth noting that these are the Reno3 and Reno3 Pro phones that use the MediaTek P90 and MediaTek Helio P95 respectively with no 5G capabilities.
