Porsche Design is set on making a statement in the crowded tech landscape. The design group today announced the Book One, a 2-in-1 laptop that looks designed to go up against the Microsoft Surface Book.

Other announcements at MWC from the group include a limited edition version of Huawei’s Watch 2, which joins last year’s Huawei Mate 9 Porsche Design in the group’s gadget portfolio.

The specifications of the Book One are competitive, and include an Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB of RAM, and a 512GB SSD. It also sports a 13.3-inch touchscreen display with a crisp 3,200 x 1,800-pixel resolution, and is outfitted with two USB-C (one of which supports Thunderbolt 3) and two USB 3.0 ports.

The keyboard can even be detached from the screen, allowing you to use the device as a tablet of sorts. This means you can easily take notes with Porsche Design’s own pen, which it built with Wacom, and scribble all over its screen using Windows Ink. The pen attaches magnetically to the device’s right side, not unlike what Microsoft does with its Surface Pro 4.

On top of that, the 5-megapixel camera is equipped with an infrared sensor for Windows Hello’s facial recognition features.

The Book One is actually a collaboration between Porsche Design, Intel, Windows, and Quanta, with the hardware likely done by the latter.

It costs US$2,495, a hundred dollars more expensive than the base configuration of Microsoft’s Surface Book, and is slated to roll out in the US, Canada, and other countries in Europe and Asia (unfortunately, no Singapore) come April.
