Pokémon Go will reportedly launch in Asia and Europe in the next few days

Pokémon Go has only officially launched in the US, Australia, and New Zealand, but it’s already proven to be quite a hit among mobile users. The game has also sent Nintendo’s stock soaring, and Nintendo appears to be seeking to continue the barrage of good news with a launch in Asia and Europe in the next few days.

Still, this is all conjecture, with The Wall Street Journal citing its source as “people familiar with plans for the game”.

The game was actually in the midst of an international rollout when Niantic put on the brakes, taken by surprise by the sheer popularity of the game. Player load put the servers under so much strain that they ended up crashing for most people, so Niantic had no choice but to pause the rollout and work on a fix.

Local users have already been able to play the game intermittently either by switching to an App Store from one of the regions where it has officially launched, or by grabbing the APK if they are on Android.

Here’s to hoping that these workarounds won’t be necessary anymore in the coming days.

Update at 8pm: We've a handy tip on how to safely get the game installed and start having fun even before its official launch.
