Xiaomi has always been known for its affordable smartphones although it has attempted to go premium with its Mi flagship lineup. To establish itself as a brand that can actually produce phones for the premium segment, Xiaomi has created a new sub-brand, Poco.

Jai Mani, the Lead Product Manager of India, shared a manifesto of the Poco sub-brand on Twitter and states that it "is all about making a powerful smartphone with the technologies that truly matter". Mani added that the Poco sub-brand has the support of Lei Jun, Manu and the rest of Xiaomi. While he did not share specifics about what's coming, Mani said that the first Poco product will go back to the basics and focus entirely on speed.

Recent rumors suggest the first Poco phone will be called the Pocophone F1. It is said to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 mobile platform and a 4,000mAh battery with liquid cooling system. The FCC filing reveals that there could be two models with 6GB RAM and two internal storage options.
