Poco brings X4 Pro 5G and M4 Pro to Singapore

Poco, a sub-brand of Xiaomi, announced its latest entry-level mobile handsets via an online keynote this evening (28 February 2022).

Poco X4 Pro 5G

Poco X4 Pro 5G.

The Poco X4 Pro 5G offers a 6.67-inch AMOLED DotDisplay panel at FHD+ (2,400 x 1,080 pixels) with 120Hz refresh rate and 360Hz touch sampling rate. This marks Poco’s first foray into higher fidelity AMOLED panels for its X series smartphones (its predecessor uses an LCF display). Poco also slapped on Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on the front.

A 108MP main shooter leads its triple rear camera housing. According to Poco, that camera has a 1/1.52-inch sensor and nona-binning technology for better clarity. We have to say that its primary camera sounds very familiar. Other accompanying cameras are an 8MP ultra-wide and 2MP micro camera. They’re furnished with typical photography modes on most modern feature phones: slow motion, time-lapse, dual-video, and a bunch of filters.

The Poco X4 Pro 5G uses a 6nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 chipset. It’s an entry-level processor that’s also on Xiaomi’s other entry-level range, the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G. In addition, Poco paired the X4 Pro 5G with 8GB RAM (LPDDRX4) and 256GB internal storage (UFS 2.2), on top of offering RAM Expansion Technology, which sacrifices storage for virtual RAM overhead.

Other features include its 5,000mAh battery with 67W fast-charging, its MIUI 13 interface (it’s a Xiaomi brand, after all), and a Z-axis linear motor for stronger vibrations. There’s also NFC, a 3.5mm jack, expandable storage up to 1TB via MicroSD card, and a side fingerprint sensor. The phone is rated IP53 for water and dust resistance, but Poco said it’s only splash-proof at best.

Poco M4 Pro

In the other corner is the Poco M4 Pro, made for users who value entertainment and only want the basics of a phone. It features a 6.43-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution (2,400 x 1,080 pixels), 90Hz refresh rate, and 180Hz touch sampling rate. This model offers Corning Gorilla Glass 3 instead.

The rear cameras are led by a 64MP main shooter, along with an 8MP ultra-wide and 2MP macro camera. It’s running on a MediaTek Helio G96 chipset, which also falls under the entry-level range (same processor as the Redmi Note 11S and Note 11 Pro)

It still packs a 5,000mAh battery, albeit with lower 33W fast-charging. M4 Pro still offers IP53 rating, NFC, a 3.5mm jack, and MIUI 13  – so users who really want to pay less for an X4 Pro 5G can find it in the M4 Pro, at the cost of some watered-down features.

The Poco X4 Pro 5G and M4 Pro both begin sales in Singapore from 3 March 2022 onwards. X4 Pro 5G can only be found on Shopee, while M4 Pro can be found on Lazada. Prices are as follows:
