Plantronics launches two versions of the BackBeat Pro 2 in Singapore

The new Plantronics BackBeat Pro 2 is here in Singapore, and they bring the familiar wireless, active noise-cancelling experience in a better form factor.

The refresh comes with a 35% decrease in size and a 15% reduction in weight when compared to the original BackBeat Pro. It now sits at 289g, making it more portable for listeners who travel longer distances in commute.

Plantronics BackBeat Pro 2 Special Edition, with its hard carrying case.

It comes with the same feature set that made the first BackBeat Pro popular at its price bracket – you’re looking at Bluetooth Class 1 pairing (with a range of 100 meters), a toggle for active noise-cancelling, the OpenMic technology that retains environmental sounds during a listening session, and a battery life of up to 24 hours for wireless streaming. The headphones also have the smart sensor feature where it will automatically pause and resume tracks whenever you remove and replace the headphones on your head. You can wirelessly connect two devices to the headphone at the same time, and the BackBeat Pro 2 can answer calls from either device seamlessly (2H2S support).

To complete the package, the Plantronics BackBeat Pro 2 comes with a 3.5mm cable for wired listening, and a soft carrying pouch that can hold the headphones after you fold the cups flat. If you inadvertently leave the headphones switched on when not in use, the DeepSleep hibernation feature kicks in to provide a standby time of six months.

The special version – Plantronics BackBeat Pro 2 Special Edition – has all of the above while throwing in NFC support for easier pairing. Instead of a pouch, it packs a durable hard case for longer-distance travelling. The finish is of a higher premium than its vanilla sibling: the headphone’s regular plastic housing is coated in a metallic spray, which makes the Special Edition headphones feel colder to the touch.

The standard Plantronics BackBeat Pro 2 retails at S$319 and it can be found at authorized Plantronics retailers now. The Plantronics BackBeat Pro 2 Special Edition is going at S$379, and it comes in Graphite Grey.

Below are the specifications for the headphones. Note that they have nearly identical specifications, but only the Special Edition pair comes with NFC support.
