'Pay with Google' takes the typing hassle out of online transactions

Five months after showing off its Google Payment API, Google has today launched ‘Pay with Google’, a new way to let you breeze through online transactions.

In broad strokes, Pay with Google lets you pay online using any verified credit or debit card in your Google account, cards that you add when you use Google products like Google Play, Android Pay, Chrome, and YouTube. When you get to the checkout page of a participating retailer, you will see a 'Pay with Google' button; and if you've more than one card, you can choose your preferred method of payment. Google would then send the merchant your payment info and shipping address using the information from your account, so there's no extra typing on your part. (Still confused? Think PayPal Checkout and you get the idea.)

Pay with Google works on the web and in Android apps. Chrome is required if you’re paying through the browser, be it on a PC or Mac or phone.

The list of participating retailers is very short at the moment, and no surprise, they’re all in the U.S. and U.K.
