Parallels Desktop is also coming for Macs running on Apple silicon

Virtualisation software expert Parallels is very busy lately. In addition to partnering with Google to bring Microsoft Office and other Windows desktop apps to Chromebooks, it’s also working with Apple to bring virtualisation capabilities to Macs running on Apple silicon.

Parallels, in a blog post:

Parallels is proud to be working closely with Apple during this exciting transition, and we’re looking forward to launching support for future Macs with Apple Silicon,” said Nick Dobrovolskiy, Senior Vice President of Engineering and Customer Support for Parallels.

Like the work it’s doing with Google, Parallels stopped short of revealing details about the new software other than saying this is version of Parallels Desktop designed for ARM Apple silicon. I get that — the app was running a Windows VM and had its icon on the dock during Apple’s demo, after all.
