As noted by DIY Photography, Panasonic has recently unveiled a new tool to replace the Lumix Tether for Streaming utility the company released just four months ago in June.

Calling it ‘a one-stop webcam software’, the new Lumix Webcam Software (still in beta) works on Windows as well as macOS. As with similar apps from other brands, you just need to connect a compatible Lumix camera to the computer using a USB cable, open the web conferencing app and select the camera as the video source to begin streaming.

Here’s the list of Lumix cameras that will work with the new software:

  • DC-S1H
  • DC-S1R
  • DC-S1
  • DC-S5
  • DC-GH5S
  • DC-GH5
  • DC-G9
  • DC-G100/G110 support coming in the future

Panasonic has also done up a table listing the compatible apps. Major ones such as Facebook Messenger, Google Meet, Microsoft Skype and Teams, Webex Meetings, Zoom and OBS Studio are all there; and expectedly, on the Mac, many of them won’t work in Safari but will work either through their respective desktop Mac app or in the Chrome browser.
