OWC will launch ThunderBlade V4, the world's fastest external drive at CES 2018

CES 2018 is less than a week away and some brands have already started announcing what they will show off at the show.

One of the highlights for OWC is their new ThunderBlade V4 external drive.

Thanks to the use of the super-fast Thunderbolt 3 interface, OWC says this is the fastest external drive on the market today.

Details are a bit hazy but presumably, the ThunderBlade V4 will use multiple SSDs within.

Claimed transfer speeds are up to 2,800MB/s read and 2,450MB/s write.

It will also come with a ruggedized hard-shell carrying case for portability.

Finally, it will be available in capacities from 1TB to 8TB with prices beginning at US$1,199.99 for the 1TB drive and topping out at US$4,999 for the 8TB drive.
