Oppo’s new tech lets you swipe screens across your phone like a waterfall.

Oppo’s new tech lets you swipe screens across your phone like a waterfall.

The new waterfall design lets the screen 'flow' over the sides.

Ever wanted to see your app icons flow down the sides of your phone like a waterfall? Someone at Oppo obviously did, as they’ve just unveiled a prototype unit that does just that. Termed “Waterfall Screen” design, this one of the five major fields of R&D at Oppo.

As you can see from the image below, the test device has an almost vertical 88” curved body that makes the device seem almost borderless.  It certainly seems to offer more screen-to-screen coverage than the 93.8% from the Panoramic Arc Screen design on the Oppo Find X.

With waterfall design, your apps will just flow across your phone.

We’ve seen something similar in the Samsung Note Edge 4G way back in 2014, but Oppo’s concept seems to be more of letting your content flow in front of you as opposed to finding ways to maximise the space. Let’s see how long it takes for this design to make it to an actual device!
