Have you ever wanted an Android tablet that had viewing dimensions similar to A4 paper? The closest thing that comes to that now is the Oppo Pad 2.

Oppo today (30 August 2023) announced the Oppo Pad 2, which packs an 11.61-inch LTPS LCD panel with up to 144Hz refresh rate. What’s special about the tablet is the 2,800 x 2,000 pixels resolution, giving it a 7:5 aspect ratio. That’s unlike most tablets (16:10 aspect ratio) since the Oppo Pad 2 is similar to A4 paper (1:1.414).

Further optimisations include retaining its 7:5 aspect ratio when you use split-screen mode, on top of five steps of refresh rate adjustment for battery savings or smoother visuals when called upon. The display can support up to 1.07 billion colours, on top of having TÜV Rheinland certification for meeting its Low Blue Light (Hardware Solution) standard.

Inside, you’re getting a MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chipset paired with UFS 3.1 storage (256GB) and LPDDR5 RAM (8GB), on top of a 9,510mAh battery that supports 67W SuperVOOC fast-charging. We think that Oppo Pad 2’s combination of components makes it ideal for casual and light productivity needs, such as streaming shows or vetting through documents you get from email.

Naturally, it packs Oppo’s proprietary Android reskin, ColorOS 13.1. The OS has Multi-Screen Connect 2.0, which auto-connects the Oppo Pad 2 to any Oppo smartphone with Bluetooth.

Other surprises include its LDAC support for Bluetooth 5.3 audio, Wi-Fi 6 compatibility, and GPS built-in (GPS L1, BEIDOU B1I+B1C, GLONASS G1, and GALILEO E1).

The tablet weighs 552g and has a thickness of 6.54mm, which is slimmer than most Android phones. It also packs cameras (13MP rear up to 4K30FPS, 8MP front up to 1080p30FPS) for video conferencing or calls. The official spec sheet doesn’t specify if it has NFC or IP-rated resistances.
