Oppo Singapore must be very happy now.

In an official statement released on 15 March 2023, Oppo said the Oppo Find N2 Flip was a “megahit” in Singapore. The foldable phone exceeded its expected pre-order sales in Singapore by a whopping 499%

For comparison, the Oppo Find N2 Flip’s day one sales sold 109% more units than Oppo Find X5 Pro’s day one retail. The latter was a powerful phone in its time too.

Oppo also shared some interesting tidbits about its Find N2 Flip buyers. About 77.4% of these buyers said that the Find N2 Flip was their first-ever foldable phone, with 66.1% of these users coming from other brands to Oppo via the Chinese firm’s new foldable handset.

“We are absolutely thrilled by the overwhelming response towards the Oppo Find N2 Flip in Singapore. What we hoped to do with the new Find N2 Flip was to set a new benchmark for flip phones and challenge what consumers can expect from small form-factor foldables. The enthusiasm received on the Find N2 Flip is confidence from Singaporeans that we’ve done exactly that,” said Andy Shi, APAC President, Oppo.

Oppo Find N2 Flip sales expectations in Malaysia were also exceeded, with 192% more day-one units sold than Find X5 Pro.

Why’s the Find N2 Flip so attractive?

While Oppo Singapore didn't assume or share any possible findings on why its flip phone appealed to buyers, here are some reasons we think contributed to its popularity.

First, and the most obvious would be the significantly muted crease on the Find N2 Flip’s main screen. As our initial launch coverage mentioned, the Find N2 Flip uses a New Generation Flexion Hinge to decrease the crease visibility. It’s also rated at 216,000 folds before degrading, which adds assurance to the display’s longevity being just enough to survive a phone’s typical lifespan of a few years.

Second would be its Cover Screen, which offers more real estate than other competing foldable clamshell handsets – giving just enough room for users to check more notifications (up to six) at a glance. A big Cover Screen also makes it less strenuous on the eyes, especially when previewing a shot before taking photos or videos.

Third, would be the combination of a bigger-than-usual battery at 4,300mAh (while other popular models offer less battery capacity), its lower price tag of S$1,299, and the effort Oppo undertook to include a generous 50MP main camera with a dedicated AI-powered image processor. This combination of perks are targeted at users who lead an active lifestyle (can’t stay charged all the time), appreciate less effort required for photography, and want to maximise their budgets where possible.

Again, all that is just what we think why Singapore users are partial towards the Oppo Find N2 Flip. If you want our take on the handset, you can check out our review here (a work-in-progress).

The Oppo Find N2 Flip retails at S$1,299 and you can find the phone online through Amazon, Lazada, Shopee, iShopChangi, Challenger, Qoo10, and TikTok. You can also pre-order the phone at Oppo Concept Stores around Singapore.
