Oppo A77s fibreglass-leather design brings a smooth appearance with performance
Oppo today (28 November 2022) launched the Oppo A77s, a new entry-level A-series smartphone that covers all the essentials in an attractive, Apple iPhone-sque design.
Here’s a very quick look at what it offers. Its 5,000mAh battery comes paired with 33W SuperVOOC Flash Charge, which Oppo said can get you to 100% in 71 minutes, lasting 17 hours of typical video-watching on YouTube. It’s further protected with Optimised Night Charging, which uses onboard AI to reference your sleeping habits and adopt a “charging plan” that offers safer charging.
The A77s itself has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 processor powering its 6.56-inch HD+ (1,612 x 720 pixels resolution) LCD screen. The display promises immersive viewing experiences with 90Hz refresh rate, a max 600-nits brightness, and massive 89.8% screen-to-body ratio. It’s also meant to be comfortable in hand with a slim 7.99mm body.
A core part of the Oppo A77s quality shines through its appearance. Oppo said it uses an “industry-first fibreglass-leather design” for a special leather-like hand feel on its Sunset Orange colourway. Its Starry Black alternative gets Oppo’s shimmery Oppo Glow aesthetic. Either option is a nod towards affordable phones looking good despite their low prices.
On the back comes a 50MP main camera (f/1.8 aperture, 5P lens, AutoFocus) with various features to spice up photos and videos captured on-device. Bokeh Flare Portrait adds bokeh effects to your depth-of-field shots, and Selfie HDR adds dynamic range to your self-portraitures even under low-light conditions. Its other rear camera is a 2MP mono shooter that supports its main shooter.
Other features include its Dirac 3.0-powered stereo speakers, its virtual RAM software (RAM Expansion), support for MicroSD expandable storage of up to 1TB, fingerprint unlocking, facial recognition unlocking, and FlexDrop (multi-tasking with a floating mini-window). It offers up to 4G connectivity, so users with 5G plans might want to take note before buying.
The Oppo A77s begins retail on 1 December 2022 at S$329 (8GB RAM + 128GB storage) at Oppo’s physical stores and online platforms like Amazon, Lazada, Qoo10, Shopee, and TikTok. It can also be found at authorised retailers and partnered consumer electronic outlets.
