Oppo has another alternative for Singaporean phone users shopping in the mid-range section of the smartphone market.

Unlike Oppo's flagship Find X series, Oppo's entry-level to mid-range A series sees numerous models launched throughout the year. Recent A series models include the Oppo A94, Oppo A15s, and Oppo A53, while the newly launched Oppo A74 here actually follows after the Oppo A73 that came out in November 2020.

According to our local Oppo representatives, the 4G-capable Oppo A74 is an all-rounder phone that packs style, performance, and crucial mid-range features for all-day use.

The Oppo A74's display is a 6.43-inch AMOLED FHD+ 60Hz punch-hole display with a 90.8% screen-to-body ratio that satisfies most online video content at 1080p, and it even packs in an in-display fingerprint sensor for greater ease of use. The area around the punch hole camera doubles as a notification light of sorts - it lights up if there's an incoming call or when the front camera is engaged. Other display features include All-Day Eye Care and AI Smart Backlight.

The phone offers a Rear AI Triple Camera setup with a 48MP primary shooter in the photography department. This camera will likely do all the heavy lifting since the accompanying cameras are 2MP macro and 2MP depth. Features include AI Scene Enhancement and Night Mode, which boosts backgrounds and low-light shooting, respectively. A 16MP camera handles selfies from the front tucked away in the punch hole mentioned above.

Oppo managed to pack in a 5,000mAh battery with 33W Flash Charge into the A74. The company said it could get up to 50% charge in just 30 minutes and a full charge in 72 minutes. A quick five-minute charge from nothing could net 1.81 hours on YouTube, which can be helpful for users who can't stay plugged in for too long.

Despite its big screen, big battery, and die-casted aluminium alloy internals, Oppo also kept the phone to just 175g. However, not all is perfect because the Singapore version does not have NFC.

Powering all the Oppo A74's features is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 chipset, which also graces the Poco M3 and Xiaomi Redmi 9T.

The Oppo A74 is available at S$299 (6GB RAM + 128GB storage) in Prism and Midnight Blue, over at its authorised retailers and official Lazada and Shopee stores. It's also available at M1.
