OnePlus has confirmed some of the specs of its Nord phone ahead of its official announcement on 21 July.

Shawn L., the Head of Product for Nord, shared in a forum post on Thursday that the phone will come with a 90Hz display and its peak touch sampling rate is increased from 135Hz to 180Hz for certain use cases such as gaming. In addition, his team spent a lot of time optimising the software to deliver a fast and smooth experience.

Shawn also revealed the Nord will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G and up to 12GB RAM. The Nord is also the first OnePlus phone to have Messenger, Dialer and Duo of the box thanks to the Google Comms suite integration.

Simon Liu, the Imaging Director for Nord, confirmed in his forum post yesterday that the Nord is equipped with a 48MP Sony IMX586 f/1.75 sensor with OIS, an 8MP ultra-wide angle lens, a 5MP depth sensor, and a macro sensor.

The Nord is the first OnePlus phone to sport two front-facing cameras; a 32MP main selfie camera and an ultra-wide angle lens with a 105° field of view. Both front-facing cameras will be assisted by algorithms that automatically leverage AI and long exposure technology to brighten up selfies and minimise noise in low-light conditions.

Carl Pei, one of the co-founders of OnePlus, recently appeared in a video with popular vlogger Marques Brownlee to talk about the design process of the Nord phone. The Nord phone is part of a new, more affordable product lineup and will be the company's first midrange offering in five years.
