OnePlus CEO Pete Lau confirmed in an exclusive interview with The Verge that there would be two flagship phones this year, one of which will be a super flagship model known as the OnePlus 7 Pro. Lau also shared that the OnePlus 7 Pro will come with 5G support and a huge display upgrade.

Compared to previous models, Lau said the company is spending three times as much on the display of the OnePlus 7 and it will "redefine fast and smooth". Aside from claiming that the display is "super-smooth and very crisp", Lau did not elaborate on the technical aspects.

Recent rumors suggest the OnePlus 7 Pro to have a Quad-HD+ display with a high refresh rate of 90Hz. This will put the OnePlus 7 Pro on par with the ASUS ROG phone, but a level below the 120Hz Razer Phones.

As a result of the increased investment in display technology, the OnePlus 7 is expected to cost more than the OnePlus 6T. The latter has a base price of S$898. OnePlus will be unveiling the OnePlus 7 models on 14 May.
