OnePlus 5’s official retail prices slashed on Lazada Singapore

Lazada Singapore, the official online retailer of the flagship OnePlus 5 smartphone, will permanently reduce the prices on both 64GB and 128GB variants of the phone. The new RRP for the OnePlus 5 handsets are now:

  • S$699 (64GB ROM, 6GB RAM) and
  • S$799 (128GB ROM, 8GB RAM)

That’s S$70 down from its old S$769 and S$869 price tags respectively. The pre-order bonus, Tempered Glass screen protector, is also no longer in effect. The OnePlus Dash Type-C fast-charging cable is still bundled into the new pricing.

Given the popularity of the OnePlus 5, we revised our prices to make it more affordable so that more shoppers can get their hands on the latest flagship phone by OnePlus. With 1 year local official warranty and the bundled additional OnePlus Dash Type-C Cable, customers are certainly getting a bang for their buck. - Mr Alexis Lanternier, CEO of Lazada Singapore.

We believe most people would be happy about the better prices, but we still felt it’s too soon since the OnePlus 5 only started its official retail here on 1st August. What about the folks who spent S$70 more to get either phone? It looks like the early adopters paid the extra S$70 to secure a unit at launch, and for a screen protector.

While this price drop could also mean other things, we’d like to think that it’s done in response to the wake of the smartphone launches that happened at IFA 2017. Either way, the OnePlus 5 is still a decent current-year flagship handset, less a couple of bells and whistles. You can learn more from our review here.
