Rear cameras and wireless charging confirmed for the upcoming OnePlus 12 phone

Besides posting the official images of its upcoming flagship phone, OnePlus also revealed details of its rear cameras, wireless charging and two other features.

OnePlus shared a month ago that the OnePlus 12 will be the first phone to use Sony's new Lytia image sensor. Now, the exact camera module model is known: it will be Sony's 48MP LYT-808 sensor.

The LYT-808 sensor will be accompanied by a 64MP periscope telephoto camera with a 1/2-inch sensor, f/2.6 aperture, OIS, and 3x optical zoom, a 48MP ultra-wide camera, and a fourth camera with 13-channel multi-spectral colour sensor.

If the camera hardware specs seem familiar it's because the OnePlus 12 shares a similar camera setup with the OnePlus Open, although their main camera sensors are slightly different (LYT-808 vs LYT-T808).

Unlike the OnePlus Open, the OnePlus 12 is confirmed to support wireless charging. Two other confirmed features of the OnePlus 12 are an IR blaster and Rain Water Touch for more a responsive touchscreen experience when the display has water droplets if you are caught in a sudden downpour or have wet fingers.

OnePlus revealed in October that the OnePlus 12 will have "the most advanced 2K display" with "far more than 2,600 nits of peak brightness".

And although OnePlus has shared quite a bit about this new phone, one thing we still don't know is what processor it would have. That said, there's a good chance it will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

The OnePlus 12 is tipped to launch globally by Q1 next year.
