OKI claims their new C650 is the world’s smallest high-performance colour A4 printer. Available from this month, OKI says it is targeting retail, hospitality, healthcare, education and construction sectors with its new printer.

Based on LED technology, the C650 is designed for businesses with space and cost constraints. OKI says it was created using their Space Saving Technology so that everything the user would need to change, or access can be reached from the front. This includes any operational instructions and maintenance tasks.

LED printers are similar to those based on Laser technology in that they use a drum, toner that is usually some form of powder, and a fuser to transfer it to the paper using some form of heat.  The difference is that LED printers use a row of LED lights rather than a laser to generate the heat. Their main claim to fame is that they have fewer moving parts compared to a laser printer and have the potential to be faster, cheaper, and more reliable.

It prints 35 pages per minute and handles paper or media as thin as 60gsm right up to 256gsm, in B8 to A4 size, including banners up to 1.32m in length.
