Office 365 Group Connectors now generally available

Office 365 Connectors, which have been in limited preview since late last year, are now generally available for Office 365 customers.

Announced last week and more specifically, these connectors, which pull relevant interactive content from apps and services, are now available to shared Office 365 Groups Inbox in Outlook. For those who have never heard of Office 365 Groups, it’s a service that enables teams to come together and get work done by establishing a single team identity, with a single set of permissions across Office 365 apps. So when you set up an Office 365 Group, a shared inbox, calendar, notebook, and files are created automatically.

Today, any member can add Office 365 Connectors to the group for the team to use, and any update in the service that he or she is tracking will also show up in the Groups’ shared inbox. And from there, further action can be taken.

Over 60 Office 365 Connectors are available now, spanning popular apps and services, like MailChimp, Asana, GitHub, Stack Overflow, Aha, Zendesk, Salesforce, Twitter, and UserVoice. Developers can also now start building connectors to be included in this catalog. Moving forward, Microsoft plans to bring Office 365 Connectors to the Outlook inbox for individual users; and over time, to other experiences across Office 365.

Office 365 Connectors work with the Office 365 Groups shared inbox, which requires an Office 365 work or school account. It’s also available on Outlook 2016 and Outlook Web App, with support coming soon to the Groups mobile app for iOS and Android.

To encourage developers and businesses to make apps to engage users through conversations, Skype for Business Web and Mobile SDK is also available now.
