NVIDIA might have unofficially confirmed the existence of the HTC Nexus 9 and the processor powering it in its ongoing patent lawsuit against Qualcomm and Samsung.

In its legal document, NVIDIA is touting the capabilities of its Tegra K1 processor and states that the HTC Nexus 9 is coming in Q3 2014 and will be powered by the chipset. The company has since removed the document from the website.

Previously, a source told Android Police that Google is indeed working with HTC to manufacture an 8.9-inch Nexus tablet. The Nexus tablet is said to sport 2GB RAM, a 7.9mm thin chassis, an 8-megapixel rear camera and comes in two storage options (16 and 32GB).

If this is indeed true, the HTC Nexus 9 is going to be an impressive tablet as recent benchmark results suggest that the Tegra K1 processor outperformed competing chipsets by about 30%. Xiaomi is also using the same processor for its 7.9-inch Mi Pad.

HTC is holding a launch event in New York City on October 8 where it is expected to launch a new mobile device. Could it be the 5.5-inch HTC One (M8) Prime or the Nexus 9 tablet? We will be there at the launch event, so keep your eyes peeled to HardwareZone for the latest updates.
