Nokia Lumia 635 Hits Local Shelves
Nokia has announced that the Lumia 635 is now available in Singapore for S$239.
Running on the Windows Phone 8.1 platform, the 4.5-inch smartphone includes 4G LTE connectivity, quad-core processing, and social experiences with Word Flow, Internet Explorer, and social apps like WhatsApp, WeChat, and Instagram. With a new dual-layered polycarbonate design that glows, the Lumia 635 comes with changeable shells available in bright orange, bright yellow, in addition to black and white.
One should not confuse the Lumia 635 with another Nokia device, the XL. They share the same retail price, but are catered for different groups of consumers. The Lumia 635 is targeted at consumers who are looking for an affordable smartphone with 4G LTE connectivity, quad-core processing power and a decent screen size for multimedia consumption.
On the other hand, the Nokia XL is more suited for first time smartphone buyers who are making the switch from feature phones. Microsoft hopes to entice these consumers to give Windows Phone platform a try by allowing some access to Android apps. However, most Google services (Maps and Gmail) are replaced with Microsoft's own services. The XL also supports dual-SIM, which is a very popular feature in entry-level market segments due to cost savings. Below is a quick overview of their specs:
