No more dropped connections with the new Linksys Max Stream EA8300

Linksys has been producing great routers for a while, with their EA9500 Max-Stream AC5400 MU-MIMO Gigabit Router coming in as winner for our Editor’s Choice award for the Best Wireless Router this year. That however, costs S$539, placing it on the higher-end of the spectrum for consumer routers. That’s where the Max Stream EA8300 (henceforth "EA8300") comes in.

It’s a Tri-Band AC2200 router with MU-MIMO Wave 2 support that gives you transfer rates of up to 2.2Gbps  (867Mbps on 5Ghz + 867Mbps on 5GHz + 400Mbps on 2.4GHz) thanks to a powerful 32-bit Quad-Core 716Mhz processor that's ARMv7 compatible.

Four active high performance antennas with six High Power Amplifiers work in unison provide you the best performance and coverage possible, and the router uses advanced beamforming technology to optimize Wi-Fi coverage for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz radio channels.

A good number of ports are on the back of the EA8300.

"Smart Connect" technology also helps to balance the load on your dual 5GHz Wi-Fi connections, intelligently choosing the best band for your devices.  This way, even 4K streaming on multiple devices will run smoothly.

Use the EA8300 with other Linksys Max Stream routers or range extenders, and your mobile devices will automatically switch and connect to the strongest Wi-Fi signal no matter where you move to within the home. And you won’t even need to switch SSIDs.

Some of the other features include:

  • Five Gigabit Ethernet Ports (4 LAN + 1 WAN)
  • One USB 3.0 Port for connecting shared network storage devices as well as a range of other peripherals.
  • Remote management, monitoring and control of your Wi-Fi network from anywhere via the Linksys app.
  • Automatic firmware updates - Pushed from Linksys to your router overnight to keep your network secure.
  • Amazon Alexa support- including turning guest access on and off, obtaining guest Wi-Fi credentials,  and getting main network credentials read back to the user.
  • SPI Firewall and DoS Protection for best-in-class network security.

The Linksys AC2200 Tri-Band MU-MIMO Router (EA8300) will be exclusively available for one month at all Challenger stores, and online at from 24th June onwards.

Recommended retail pricing (RRP) is S$279, but and Challenger members will get it for S$259.
