The Nissan X-Trail e-Power first made its local debut at the Singapore Motor Show earlier this year and it's now finally available for sale.
This is a large 7-seater hybrid SUV that uses Nissan's second-generation e-Power system. Powering the car are two motors – one on each axle – that develop a total output of 201hp and 330nm of torque.
To provide power to the electric motors, the X-Trail e-Power relies on a 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbocharged engine that has a variable compression ratio that allows it to deliver high power and fuel efficiency.
The upside to this hybrid platform is that you don't have to concern yourself with charging. Simply fill it up like any car with an internal combustion engine and you are good to go.
Nissan claims a fuel consumption figure of 6.7L/100km, which means, given its 55L fuel tank capacity, that it should have a range of around 820km.
The X-Trail e-Power also features Nissan's e-4ORCE all-wheel-drive system that can assess road conditions and send power to the wheel that can has the most traction.
It also has an "e-Pedal" that Nissan says will "transform the accelerator pedal into both an accelerator and a brake." Basically, it means the car will drive more like a typical EV and will apply heavy regenerative braking whenever you lift your foot off the throttle. I'm not a fan of such a setup, though I suspect some drivers might like it.
Inside, the X-Trail e-Power features two large 12.3-inch digital displays – one for the infotainment system and the other for the instrument cluster. Though wireless Apple CarPlay is supported, Android users will need a cable to use Android Auto.
There's also a large 10.8-inch heads-up display and the car features a Bose sound system that has active noise cancellation technology that helps reduce road and wind noise.
