As promised, Nikon has released the first beta of its Webcam Utility that lets you use a compatible Nikon DSLR or Z series mirrorless camera as a webcam for streaming.

Available for 64-bit Windows 10 at the moment (macOS version coming soon), the Nikon Webcam Utility works with the following 10 cameras:

  • Z7
  • Z6
  • Z5
  • Z50
  • D6
  • D850
  • D780
  • D500
  • D7500
  • D5600

Like most of the other camera brands’ camera-as-webcam apps, using Nikon Webcam Utility is as simple as connecting it to a computer via USB and choosing it as the external camera in your web conferencing app. Remember, you can’t adjust the camera’s settings while it’s connected to the PC, so make sure you set it up first.
