Nikon adds to its Z-mount lens lineup with the new 24-70mm f/2.8 S

The 24-70mm focal range has always been a popular one for photographers, as a single lens with this focal range can cover a wide variety of situations. No surprise then, that Nikon’s next Z-mount lens would be the NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S lens. This brings photographers on Nikon’s new Z-mount cameras a lightweight and durable lens with a constant wide maximum aperture.

The NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S gets an anti-reflective coating system featuring a new ARNEO Coat, which is supposed to give ultra-low reflectance of incident light. This means largely reduced ghosting and flaring even when the light source is in frame. Compared to AF-S Nikkor 24-70mm, the NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S is shorter (126mm length compared to 154.5mm) and lighter (805g compared to 1070g).

With the NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S, you’ll get both focus ring and control ring. The focus ring has been made quieter and smoother than before, and with special care taken to reduce focus breathing down to a minimum; crucial for video operations.

Get punchy pictures with the new Z 24-70 f/2.8 lens.

There’s also a lens information panel so you can quickly see your aperture settings, focus distance and depth of field without even having to look into the viewfinder. A felt-lined lens hood perfectly complements the new high-end lens not only in terms of looks, but also by reducing stray reflections coming to the lens. Built with dust and drip resistance, the NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S is certainly a lens that’s ready for any situation.

Local pricing and availability information hasn’t been announced yet, but we’ll be sure to update this as soon as we hear word. The lens retails for US$2,299.95 in the US though, so you can expect it to cost around S$3,350 when it gets here.
