Next iPhone Said to Be Ready for Production, Possible Summer Launch
9to5Mac obtained information from a source at Foxconn in China that the upcoming iPhone model, commonly referred as the iPhone 5, is ready for production and is likely to be launched in summer.
According to 9to5Mac, the source pointed out that there are different prototypes being tested at the Foxconn factory, leading to speculation that Apple has not made a decision on the final design. However, the prototypes share several similarities:
- A minimum screen size of 4-inches, with at least one of them made by LG
- Symmetrical in thickness with no teardrop shape
- Longer and wider design
- Adopting a new form factor, different from the iPhone 4/4S
- All the prototypes are not the final versions
This source is the same one that tipped off 9to5Mac last year about Apple launching the iPhone 4S only, hence it lends some degree of credibility to its latest report on the upcoming iPhone 5. Nevertheless, do take this and other rumors about the iPhone 5 with a pinch of salt.
