The next-gen iPad Air rumoured to have USB-C port and a bigger display

The 2019 Apple iPad Mini and iPad Air.

Apple is rumoured to switch to USB-C for the next generation iPad Air.

According to Japanese site Macotakara, supply chain sources claim that the next iPad Air (referred as the iPad Air 4) will come with USB-C port and the design will be similar to the 11-inch iPad Pro. This suggests that we could be looking at a bigger display with slimmer bezels, more sharply rounded corners, and Face ID replacing Touch ID.

Macotakara added that the new iPad Mini will continue to use Lightning port for another year. The sources shared that the iPad Mini will have an 8.5-inch display, an increase of 0.6-inches from the current display size of 7.9-inch.

There have been conflicting reports on Apple's plans for refreshing the iPad Air and iPad Mini. Tipster @L0vetodream reported in April that the next generation iPad Air will have a Mini-LED display and in-display Touch ID. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claimed the 10.2-inch iPad and 7.9-inch iPad Mini are among the six new Mini-LED devices in the pipeline.
