New Windows 10 Technical Preview Build 10051 for phones now available

If you’re a Windows Insider on the Fast ring and have a Lumia, know that there’s a new Windows 10 preview build that supports no less than 35 handsets.

As far as we can tell, Build 10051 is still very rough on the edges (it’s called a technical preview and not an outright public beta for a reason), so you really shouldn’t install it on a daily driver. But for those who are keen to know what Microsoft is cooking for mobile, this build is the one to try as it offers a glimpse of many new up-and-coming features.

For example, you’ve new Outlook Mail and Outlook Calendar universal apps, a new People universal app, a new Maps universal app that integrates both Bing Maps and Here maps resources for the first time, an updated app switcher, and the new Project Spartan browser. We first got to try out Project Spartan on (desktop) Windows 10 Technical Preview Build 10049, but this is the first time it’s appearing on the phone. Early versions of Reading View and Reading List have made it here, as well as the new rendering engine. IE11 is still the default browser in this build, but it’s expected to be removed in a later update.

If you’re coming from a previous build, there are several fixes as well as outstanding issues. Hit the source link for the full details.
