New medical smart glasses give vein-seeing superpowers to professionals
Medical technology advancement is always an exciting thing – it gives rise to better equipment or unlocking possible cures, and it can be cool. The Eyes-On Glasses 3.0 is one such example.
The Eyes-On Glasses 3.0 is made by US-based medical equipment company, Evena Medical, and it is a portable, hands-free wearable that comes with ultrasound and multispectral imaging. The ultrasound technology used in the Eyes-On Glasses 3.0 allows the wearer to use vascular imaging (ultrasound image) at any depth, in real-time, while the multispectral light imaging helps to visualize difficult peripheral veins.
This allows clinicians to view deep tissue structures, as well as veins, and the wearable format allows nurses and physicians to conduct intravenous (IV) related work without interruption to their workflow. It also allows for augmented reality imaging, enabling digital overlays for medical training.
The wearable can connect using Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and 3G network. It also comes with USB 2.0 and 3.0 for accessorizing with other peripherals, such as wireless keyboards and barcode scanners. It even comes with dual speakers for two-way communication. The Eyes-On Glasses 3.0 runs on 1GB RAM, and it has 32GB internal memory for medical professionals to store images and video for health documentation.
This medical smart glass (which honestly looks cooler and works cooler than VR wearables out there) will be on display at CES 2016, with a demo for people who dislike needles.
