New leak suggests imaging capabilities to be the focus for Xiaomi Mi 5 and Mi 5 Plus
Xiaomi is not only going premium on the design of its smartphones, it also wants its smartphones to take great pictures.
According to a well-known tipster on Weibo, the Xiaomi Mi 5 will come with a 16-megapixel rear camera and a 13-megapixel front-facing camera while its larger counterpart, the Mi 5 Plus sports a whopping 23-megapixel rear camera and 12-megapixel front-facing camera.
The reported imaging hardware of the Mi 5 models will put Xiaomi in the same league as HTC, LG and Samsung although image quality is dependent on a variety of factors such as image processing algorithms.
The Mi 5 is alleged to come with a 5.2-inch Quad-HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 4, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, 3GB RAM, a fingerprint sensor which uses ultrasonic sound waves, a 3,000mAh battery which supports fast charging (30% battery charge within 5 minutes, a full charge in 40 minutes) and a retail price tag of 2,399 yuan (~S$525).
The Mi 5 Plus reportedly will have a 5.7-inch Quad-HD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor with Sense ID technology, and a 3,500mAh battery which supports quick charging (a full charge takes only 50 minutes).
Both phones are rumored to be launched this month although a leaked roadmap hints of a later launch in November.
