New HyperDrive dongle connects 2016 MacBook Pros to HDMI and USB 3.0 devices

By now, you would’ve heard of the four Thunderbolt 3 ports using USB Type-C connectors found on the priciest MacBook Pro 2016 model. While it’s great to have so many ports on a notebook, you might not have that many USB Type-C devices, and most external displays still use HDMI ports for projection.

So, HYPER’s decision to launch the HyperDrive USB Type-C Hub is a relief in more ways than one, as it helps overcome the short-term port compatibility problems between the 2016 MacBook Pro and your existing gadgets.

The HyperDrive USB Type-C Hub is a port splitter that can be plugged into any of the four Thunderbolt 3 slots on the new Apple notebooks. In return, the port hub offers one HDMI port that supports 4K videos, two USB 3.0 ports, and one USB Type-C port that supports power delivery and pass-through charging. This way, you don’t lose your precious USB Type-C connectors as well. The hub also works with the 12-inch MacBook.

What helps to set the HyperDrive USB Type-C Hub apart is its fetching design – it’s made to match your precious MacBook Pro with four different colors (Space Gray, Silver, Gold, Rose Gold). The hub itself comes skinned in a machined aluminum finish, which is pretty sweet.

The HyperDrive USB Type-C Hub officially retails at US$59.95 (~$83.36) and it is already available at their online store.
