Xbox Series X|S owners might want to check out these new additions.

The Xbox team’s November 2020 update has brought a bunch of new features to the Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles. First off, players will find that new dynamic background designs are now available on the Xbox Series X|S, allowing them to customise their home screen with motion and colour.

There are six options to choose from, including homages to previous Xbox console generations. If that seems a little limited, the Xbox team has confirmed that they plan to explore, more “explore additional styles, colors, and designs,” in future updates. These next-gen consoles also come with Auto HDR, for improved visual quality in games.

This update provides the option to turn on Auto HDR for games with no additional work from developers. To see if Auto HDR is running on a game, all you have to do is open the guide and check for the new Auto HDR tag. In the same vein, you can also find new ‘Optimised for Series X|S’ badges on games fully optimised for Microsoft’s next-gen consoles. If you don’t really want to spend your time looking for badges, you can also find some of these games in our earlier coverage.

Notably, Microsoft is also finally giving players the ability to pre-install games that are on their way to Xbox Game Pass. On the Xbox Game Pass screen, you can check for the ‘Coming Soon’ section to pre-install certain games you want to play the moment they hit the service. Using the Xbox Game Pass app, you can also queue other games to install once they’re released on the service.

This feature arrives not a moment too soon, since December is an absolutely packed month for Xbox Game Pass releases. Dragon Quest XI, Doom Eternal, Control, Greedfall and more join Game Pass this month. Check Xbox Wire for more details.
