New Canon SMB printers go with ink tanks and high print volumes for business efficiency
Ink tank printers are the new way that vendors are helping businesses keep costs down. The new Maxify GX7070 and GX6070 from Canon follow on from their previous ink tank versions, the G7070 and MB5470.
According to Canon, these four-tank printers run on large ink tanks and high-volume ink bottles to significantly reduce ink costs for both monochrome and colour printing. For businesses looking to save on long-term printing costs, using the Economy mode setting pushes output to 9,000 and 21,000 pages of grayscale and colour respectively.
Both printers come with an automatic document feeder (ADF). These can hold up to 50 sheets to be duplicated or scanned into digital storage, to a PC, USB-storage (this is new to the GX7070 and DX6070), and even into mobile devices like smartphones and tablet PCs.
The Maxify GX7070 has a maximum paper loading capacity of 600 sheets while the Maxify GX6070 has a maximum paper loading capacity of 350 sheets. The Maxify GX7070, can also do single-pass duplex scanning, where both sides of a two-sided document can be scanned in a single paper-pass.
Canon says that the Maxify GX7070 and GX6070 are new to the ink tank range with the closest comparison being the MB5470. We have included a chart below with the major differences.
There is also a Pixma alternative, the Canon Pixma G7070. Also, an ink tank with ADF, it retails for only S$499.

The Maxify GX7070 and Maxify GX6070 are now available from Canon authorised dealers for S$889 and S$769 respectively.
