Photographers and graphic artists in Singapore who are looking for high-quality prints can now look towards two new printer options from Canon.

The Canon imagePROGRAF Pro-300 and Canon Pixma Pro-200 support the new Canon Premium Fine Art Rough media for exhibition-ready prints, with each able to print up to A3 sized paper. We first covered the launch of the Canon Pixma Pro-200 in Australia in early September.

As we covered earlier, the Canon Pixma Pro-200 features a new eight-colour dye ink system with updated magenta and black inks that support an expanded colour gamut for reds and blues and provide a more faithful reproduction of blacks while also improving black densities.

It is also more efficient, with the ability to print standard high-grade A3+ bordered colour prints in approximately 90 seconds. It is also more versatile and can print on a range of photo paper surfaces and finishes up to 0.6mm thickness.

The Canon Pixma Pro-200 is compatible with Canon print apps and software. It also supports different software and applications like Digital Photo Professional and Adobe Photoshop. Connectivity options like Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and USB allow it to be used in the office, photo studios, shared spaces, and the home.

Canon’s newest imagePROGRAF Pro-300 seems to have been was built for photographers and their photos of all kinds.

The heart of the printer is the new Lucia Pro 10-ink system. This allows the imagePROGRAF Pro-300 to reproduce an expanded range of colours on a variety of glossy and matte media. There are now dedicated ink nozzles for Matte Black and Photo Black that allows users to switch from matte to glossy media easily across multiple print jobs, with no swapping of black inks required.

The Canon imagePROGRAF Pro-300 is also equipped with an automatic nozzle compensation feature that reduces banding and streaks in photo prints. By detecting ink nozzles that are not discharging ink during the printing process, the printer will automatically compensate by deploying the surrounding nozzles.

Keeping things similar

Both the imagePROGRAF Pro-300 and Pixma Pro-200 are 15-per cent smaller than their predecessors, the Canon Pixma Pro-10 and Pro-100 respectively. Unlike the older models, both new printers also have a three-inch colour LCD screen on both printers also enhances usability, making it easy to monitor remaining ink levels as well as perform setup and manage settings without having to use a computer.

A new Auto Skew Correction feature on both printers uses a built-in mechanism to ensure that the paper being fed into the printer is always aligned and that there are no printing errors. All this is automated, with the feature working with all types of paper, including thick and large papers.

Both printers also come bundled with the Canon Professional Print & Layout (PPL) software. This makes it easy for users to optimise layout and colour settings for single or multiple print jobs, ensuring a superior user experience beginning from image capture, to post-editing, and eventually the print result.

Canon has also released a new Premium Fine Art Rough (FA-RG1) paper, made from textured cotton-based paper and is particularly suited for portraits and fine art reproduction.
